Spirit
- All rules of the Midwest Jr Super Series are
designed on a simple premise - Junior Drag Racing is a sport
designed for the fun and enjoyment of the whole family
- The spirit and intent of that principle is
the standard by which the series is guided. The rules and
regulations set forth are as complete as the MWJS
can make them at this time. However, it is impossible to craft rules that
cover every contingency. When an unforeseen circumstance
arises that tests the spirit and intent of the rules, event
officials are authorized to decide whether an equipment
change or design is an attempt to "beat" the rules.
Event officials can and will disqualify an
entry in violation of this spirit and intent rule. Officials shall
have the right to correct conditions
not in compliance with the spirit and intent of regulations
Participants
Participants include drivers AND crew members.
Participants are expected AT ALL TIMES
to conduct themselves in a professional and non-disruptive manner
Any participant that:
1. Verbally or Physically threatens another participant or other
person
2. Uses vulgar or derogatory language
3. Engages in unsportsmanlike conduct or conduct detrimental to the
sport of Junior Drag Racing.
4. Causes or contributes to the destruction of property
5. Or Creates a condition or circumstance that is unsafe, unfair, or
out of order, may be excluded, disqualified, or asked to leave the
event.
Heads-Up
1.
First and Foremost, all Heads-Up 330 cars must meet N.H.R.A. rules.
(Example: 2010 NHRA Rule Pg. 43: "Front
overhang not to exceed 15 inches, measured from centerline of front
spindle to forwardmost point of car.)
(Example: 2010 NHRA Rule Pg. 40: "Helmet bars
are required between the secondary upper roll cage hoop and the
upper roll cage rear braces on each side of the car.)
- Once you have reached the point of
racing within the Heads-Up 330 class, you are expected to know the
NHRA base rules for Jr. Dragsters.
If your car does not meet all NHRA rules you will not be allowed to
race until your car fully conforms with these rules.
2.
For the 2010 racing season we are simplifying Fuel Systems and Puke
Systems. These changes are not meant to impede creativity in anyway.
In years past there has been no way to police items such as this.
The simplification allows us a better way to monitor these systems.
The new rules will not have an effect on the performance of a given
racecar, they are simply an encouragement to look for performance in
different areas.
3. It has
been a known occurrence for years that the Heads-Up 330 cars simply
take to long to run per round.
In 2010 we have came up with 2 new items to help speed the program
along without having to push or hassle racers.
1. Heads-Up 330 cars will be called in conjunction with an Index
Class. Fueling of the cars will happen while the Index Class is
completing their runs.
At the end of the Index Class the Heads-Up 330 cars will begin
immediately. If you are not in the lanes when the Index Class
finishes you will forfeit your run, regardless of the round.
2. In today's all-run format of Heads-Up 330 racing there tends to
be many bye runs. The ladder we are going to use for 2010 will use
up all
bye runs in the first round. In an effort to save time, all bye runs
will be paired together first round with the quicker car having lane
choice.
Also in an effort to speed up the show, you DO NOT have to take your
bye run to win the round. If you have a bye run first round you may
skip it,
you still win the round but will give up lane choice 2nd round as
you have no e.t. to base it on.
Basic
No track rentals at an upcoming Midwest Jr
Super Series venue 3 days prior to the event.
Ignition-Battery required ignition systems
prohibited, O.E.M. "Magneto" style ignition accepted.
Mechanical kill switch mandatory. The
attachment of the kill switch wire to the back of the ignition coil
must be by a permanent method.
Acceptable methods include soldering or bolting. The connection must
also be encased in clear silicone to reduce vibration and for
inspection purposes.
The connection of the kill switch wire to the
chassis wiring must be by a positive locking device.
The weight tank may not protrude more than 10"
past the circumference of the rear tires and may not be mounted
above the rear tires.
Tire warmers are prohibited.
Tire covers must be removed prior to crossing
the water-box OR before the engine is started.
It is recommended that competitors use Tire
Wraps, however you may still use Plastic Wrap. If you use Plastic
Wrap, the first time
they stick to your tires holding up the event you will be given a
warning. The second time they stick you will immediately forfeit
that run.
The area and procedure for starting the engine
will be defined by the officials on an event to event basis based on
the track layout.
Only one restart after the car has passed the water box.
Once one pre-stage bulb is lit, neither
competitor may restart their racecar.
If either competitor's car shuts off, while one pre-stage bulb is
lit, they forfeit the round.
Procedure for weighing cars: If a car is
determined to be under weight on the first examination, the car will
be removed from
the scale and the unit will be re-zeroed/calibrated. The car will
the be re-weighed ONE time. The decision of the official will be
final.
Absolutely no touching of the cars by anyone
except race officials until the car has passed the scales.
Elimination runs will be on a pro ladder.
Winner and Runner-Up will be teched in a timely
fashion following the final round.
No winnings will be issued until tech has been completed.
A participant may not set the idle speed using
the throttle cable. Idle speed must be set by a standalone method.
(I.E. Standard Mikuni Slide Adjuster, Carburetor Top Adjusters,
etc.)
This ruling is strictly for safety purposes. As
the idle speed is set using the throttle cable, the adjustment on a
driver's pedal stop is changed.
This can result in a driver's throttle hanging at the finish line.

shields of any kind on the racecar.
Fuel pumps must be pulsed from the manifold.
No electric or battery fuel pumps of any kind

Engine must be drilled for tagging. Engines
will be tagged prior to qualifying. Any change of engine afterwards
must be approved by the race official.
The request of change must be approved before the engine is removed
from the car.
Participants
Minimum age in 2010 is 13 Years Old. If a
driver starts the season at age 17, and turns 18 during the season,
they may complete the remainder of the season.

an MWJS Index Class. At the completion of the Index Round, Heads-Up
cars will begin running.
Any cars not in the lanes when the first Heads-Up cars are started will
forfeit the run.

release form.
Deep Staging PERMITTED.
No pullbacks at anytime. If a car goes deep
during qualifying, the run will start from the deep position.
Qualifying
Ladder:
- Eliminations will be run on a Pro Ladder.
- Standard 16 car Ladder.
- In the event that there are more than 16
cars, a 32 car Pro Ladder will be used. The use of this ladder will
ensure that from 2nd round on,
there are no Bye runs. In order to save time, all first round Bye
runs will be run in pairs with the quicker cars having lane
choice.
Bye Runs:
If you have a Bye-Run you have automatically
won that round. You DO NOT have to make your Bye-Run to advance to
the next round.
If you choose not to make your Bye-Run you automatically forfeit
lane choice for the following round.
YOU CAN NOT LOSE ON A BYE-RUN.
If you choose to make your Bye-Run, for your
e.t. to count for the next round's lane choice you must cross the
scales and make weight.
Maximum field, 32 cars.
Lane choice for first round qualifying will be
done by draw. Second round qualifying will be run in the opposite
lane from the first.
Third qualifying attempt must be made in the lane used in the first
round of qualifying.
Failure to run in the opposite lane from the
first pass will forfeit the second pass.
After the cars are paired for qualifying, if
you miss your position in the order, the run is forfeited.
Lane Choice
Lane choice goes to lower qualifier in Round
1. Quicker car from previous round gets lane choice in following
rounds.
-- We will make every attempt not to, but the
Midwest Jr Super Series holds the right to amend any or all rules to
this series at anytime.
